Ceph/HCI, implementation of a Proxmox Backup Server, production workload migrations, specialist routing and firewall requirements, multiple sites, and on-site work in the DACH region are planned and quoted separately.
Once the prerequisites are clear, delivery takes place remotely or, where the project requires it, with an on-site component in the DACH region.
Hardware, remote access, networking, storage, backup destination and the required target topology are confirmed before the implementation date.
Proxmox VE is installed and updated with the agreed repositories, administrative access paths and baseline safeguards.
Bridges, VLANs and storage are implemented within the agreed standard scope. For a cluster, Corosync, quorum and the HA storage path are added.
An existing backup destination is connected. Installation, networking and storage are validated with test workloads; a cluster also receives migration and failover tests.
You receive the documented configuration and a technical handover. Managed Proxmox or ad hoc support can be commissioned separately afterwards.
Networking, remote console and storage differ by provider. The available resources are therefore reviewed against the selected standard scope before setup.
An installation alone does not define a robust virtualisation platform. Maintainability primarily depends on hardware, storage, networking and backup decisions, so these points are reviewed for every new deployment.
The Proxmox docs explicitly discourage consumer SSDs: without power-loss protection, sync writes (ZFS, Ceph, databases) collapse dramatically, and data loss looms on power failure.
For ZFS, the official documentation recommends high-quality ECC memory - otherwise RAM bit errors silently end up in your data. Plus: enough RAM for the ARC (base 2 GiB + 1 GiB per TiB of storage).
For VM workloads, IOPS is what counts. Mirror vdevs (RAID1/RAID10) are the right choice per the docs; RAIDZ costs zvol performance and surprisingly much space through parity and volblocksize.
ZFS and Ceph want to see the disks directly. Hardware RAID controllers underneath are one of the most common causes of creeping storage problems - we use HBA/IT mode.
The cluster heartbeat needs latencies under 5 ms and tolerates no competition from storage or migration traffic. With us, corosync gets its own NIC - plus redundant links (up to 8 supported).
The standard setup connects one existing external backup destination and validates a test job. PBS implementation, off-site copies and isolated restore tests remain separately commissioned services.

Answers to the most important questions
New environments are built on the current stable Proxmox VE 9 release available at the implementation date. Proxmox VE 8 reached end of life in August 2026, so for existing environments we first assess the required upgrade or migration path.
A single node within the approved remote standard scope generally takes one to two working days. A three-node cluster typically takes three to seven working days. Hardware procurement and production workload migrations are not included in these timeframes.
The Single Node Setup starts at €1,490 excl. VAT one-time. The Three-node Cluster Setup starts at €4,990 excl. VAT one-time. Hardware, the Proxmox subscription, production migrations and separately agreed extensions are added where required.
With a working remote console and prepared network access, setup can be completed entirely remotely. Where rack installation, cabling or local coordination is required, on-site delivery in Germany and the DACH region is also available depending on the project. Travel and on-site services are stated separately.
Before the scheduled work, we assess CPU, memory, drives, controllers, network interfaces and remote management against the planned workloads. Suitable enterprise drives, power-loss protection and an appropriate network topology are particularly relevant for ZFS and Ceph. Hardware and vendor subscriptions are not included in the installation price.
No. The starting price covers a three-node cluster with one agreed standard storage path. A hyperconverged Ceph cluster requires a separate review of OSDs, failure domains, capacity, networking and recovery requirements and is therefore quoted individually.
You can operate the documented environment yourself or commission Managed Proxmox separately with proactive 24/7 monitoring, updates, backup management and a selectable service level. Production and Critical add round-the-clock P1 response. Training, hour allowances and more extensive runbooks can also be agreed separately.
