Answers to the most important questions
Duration depends on your infrastructure complexity. Small setups (few VMs) can be migrated in 1-2 weeks. Complex environments with multiple databases and services need 4-8 weeks. We create an individual timeline after the initial analysis.
We map the GCP services actually in use to a target architecture individually. Possible components include managed PostgreSQL or MySQL instances, containers for suitable Functions workloads and S3-compatible object storage. Not every proprietary feature has a one-to-one replacement.
Savings depend on machine classes, Cloud SQL, storage, egress, discounts and the future operating model. We therefore compare the current GCP invoice with an appropriately sized Hetzner target architecture.
Hetzner offers selectable locations in Germany and Finland, a data processing agreement and documented technical measures. Whether the specific system meets privacy requirements also depends on its configuration, subprocessors, integrations and actual data flows.
A migration can make sense when egress, proprietary managed services, data location or the future operating model drive total cost. We compare the current GCP invoice with an appropriately sized target architecture instead of promising blanket savings.
The existing GCP infrastructure remains available until the validated cutover and throughout the agreed rollback window. Cutover, fallback criteria and decommissioning are defined in advance.
We migrate Cloud SQL to PostgreSQL or MySQL, depending on requirements. Databases can be replicated during migration to minimize downtime.
Cloud Functions become Docker containers that we deploy via Coolify or Kubernetes. This reduces costs significantly and prevents vendor lock-in, while maintaining event-driven execution.
Yes, Hetzner Object Storage is S3-compatible. In most cases, an endpoint change is sufficient since the S3 API is fully supported.
We replicate your firewall rules to Hetzner Firewalls and Linux iptables. Private Networks replace VPCs, Floating IPs replace external static IPs.
Snapshots are exported and transferred to Hetzner. Alternatively, we perform a clean migration – ideal for modernizing infrastructure at the same time.
We set up Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and Alertmanager – more flexible, fully open-source and significantly cheaper than Stackdriver.
