Analysis, migration, operations: three steps with a stated price
The initial consultation is free of charge. The cloud exit assessment, migration and operations follow the prices in the service catalogue.
The three steps build on each other without requiring each other. The analysis does not commit you to the migration, nor the migration to operations. All prices are net and exclude statutory VAT. The offers are addressed to businesses.
Scaleway Migration FAQ
Answers to the most important questions
- Scheduling depends on instances, Kubernetes, databases, data volume and dependencies. Assessment, rehearsal, cutover and rollback point are agreed before implementation.
- Scaleway provides the shared Kapsule control plane without additional charges; nodes and other resources are billed separately. The Kosmos control plane is paid; dedicated control planes have their own rates. On Hetzner, a target cluster can be built and operated with k3s or another distribution. Coolify is an option for simpler setups.
- A migration can make sense when data location, pricing structure, portability or a differently operated target system better fits the workload. We compare the current Scaleway plan with a sized Hetzner target architecture.
- For functions, containers and jobs, we assess runtimes, triggers, scaling and dependencies. Containers on Hetzner with Coolify are one possible target; event-driven workflows need suitable replacements.
- Hetzner Cloud offers Falkenstein and Nuremberg (Germany) and Helsinki (Finland) in the EU, plus Ashburn, Hillsboro and Singapore (locations). Selection depends on user locations, latency, resilience, contracts and privacy requirements for the specific system.
- We plan data transfer, delta synchronisation and cutover to Hetzner Object Storage. S3 compatibility alone is insufficient: permissions, versioning, lifecycle rules and application access are checked before switching.
- Port speed, included traffic and overage differ by product and location. We compare the current target plans with the measured throughput and traffic profile.
- For suitable workloads, Scaleway Cockpit can be replaced by Prometheus and Grafana. Data storage, retention, availability and operating effort are designed around the specific requirements.
- Hetzner Online GmbH is based in Gunzenhausen, Bavaria, registered in Ansbach under HRB 6089 (legal notice). Its EU cloud locations are Falkenstein, Nuremberg and Helsinki. Hetzner Online GmbH and Hetzner Finland Oy are certified to DIN ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (certifications).
- Domain registration and hosting are separate contracts. DNS records are updated to the new addresses for cutover. A registrar transfer is a separate process.
